What do we achieve after this time:
We cannot trade Bitcoin freely, draconian KYC /AML bureaucracy is required for almost all transactions (!)

The talk will present Fair Data Society initiative and give an overview of the protocol with a call-to-action to build projects in an ethical way on fair data principles. We live in a world where individuals are exploited for their personal data and privacy as human right is ignored while handful of actors are unfairly amassing wealth generated by personal data (think Facebook and similar). In short, we can call it data slavery.
Fair Data Society (FDS) is an independent non-profit organisation, initiated by Datafund project, that follows a vision where personal data is owned by individuals and the value of data is – contrary to popular centralised services – fairly distributed among its owners. Data exchange is on a need-to-know basis, according to user consents and conditions while human rights and privacy are respected.
To achieve this, FDS is developing fair data protocol where personal data is semantically organised and stored on Swarm, and fairdrop dapp for ethical data exchange (first release in September). FDS components can be reused by any other project. Moreover, FDS is actively connecting various stakeholders such as developers, academia, regulators, NGOs and governments to drive social change and raise awareness towards mentioned goals.
The talk will present FDS initiative and give an overview of the protocol with a call-to-action to build projects in an ethical way on fair data principles.Gregor2018-12-29T11:00:00+01:0011:0001:30Workshop Area 135C3-74-demo_walkthrough_namecoin_as_a_decentralized_alternative_to_certificate_authorities_for_tls/abc/events/74.htmlfalseDemo + Walkthrough: Namecoin as a Decentralized Alternative to Certificate Authorities for TLSDemo of the latest Namecoin TLS code, and install it yourselfworkshopenIn this workshop, I'll demo the latest Namecoin TLS code that's covered in my talk "Namecoin as a Decentralized Alternative to Certificate Authorities for TLS: The Next Generation". This activity:
1) generates new Monero outputs which enhance the Monero ring-signature privacy set.
2) gives members a chance to practice sending/receiving Monero.
3) provides a sense of meaning.
For each week the members participate successfully, they earn 1 Faith Point. Faith Points are non-transferable, distributed database entries that function as a developing, internal reputation system.
The Church of Monero holds these events twice a week on our public telegram channel @churchofmonero. We meet Wednesdays @ 08:00 UTC (for people living in Asia) and Sundays @ 18:00 UTC (for people living in NA/EU). Church members can only earn a max of 1 Faith Point per week, even if they attend both Masses.
We have successfully held 16 weeks of Mass. The Faith Points can be seen in the attached photo./system/events/logos/000/000/028/large/Church_of_Monero_Orthodox_Logo.png?1545507615Xeagu

That's why one year ago at the 34C3 Monero Assembly, I presented Namecoin's work on a decentralized alternative to certificate authorities for TLS. The attack surface was, in my opinion, substantially lower than any previously existing attempt. Compatibility and scalability weren't too bad either. But we're never satisfied, and wanted something even better. With significantly improved attack surface, compatibility, and scalability, our improved design bears little resemblance to what we had one year ago. In this talk, I'll cover the various shortcomings in our replacement for TLS certificate authorities from one year ago, and how we fixed them.Certificate authorities (CA's) pose a serious threat to the TLS ecosystem. Prior proposed solutions (e.g. Convergence, DANE, HPKP, CAA, and CT) simply reshuffle the set of trusted third parties. In contrast, Namecoin solves the underlying problem: if you know a Namecoin domain name, you can find out which TLS certificates are valid for it, with a threat model and codebase nearly identical to the battle-hardened Bitcoin. One year ago at the 34C3 Monero Assembly, I presented a design (with implemented, working code) for accomplishing this in the real world of uncooperative web browsers, with best-in-class attack surface, good compatibility, and good scalability.
But there was still much that could be improved, ranging from ending our reliance on HPKP API's (which are being phased out), to preventing the browser's TLS implementation from leaving your browsing history on the disk, to sandboxing Namecoin's certificate override code so that it can't compromise non-Namecoin traffic even if exploited, to supporting Firefox and Tor Browser (both of which posed unique challenges), to name just a few. This talk will cover a wide variety of improvements we made to attack surface, compatibility, and scalability. Expect to learn lots of interesting little-known trivia about the innards of TLS implementations, which can be used for unexpected purposes in our mission to rid the world of the scourge that is certificate authorities./system/events/logos/000/000/018/large/namecoin-coin_1000px.png?1544948594Jeremy Rand

Diego is looking to break down the grandiose claims to look at what blockchain actually is, while giving a light-hearted, joke-filled take on blockchain culture, hacker culture, and the technology itself. Blockchain is a technology allowing the creation of decentralized ledgers without requiring a trusted third party to guarantee its authenticity. Actors still need to make particular actions in order for the ledger to work as expected. In order to make actors behave in a manner leading to the system working, the system must reward honest actors and punish dishonestly ones throught game theoretical incentives. For example, in Bitcoin, miners are rewarded when they publish blocks which are included in the longest chain.
This workshop will introduce basic game theoretical concepts in the form of simple economic games played between the participants. The workshop does not require previous knowledge and everyone is welcomeclesaege

Pocket Science Lab (PSLab) is an Open Source hardware device (open on all layers) that can be used for experiments by teachers, students and citizen scientists to learn and teach electronics. The hardware comes with a firmware, desktop app, android app - all open source. This tiny pocket lab provides an array of sensors for doing science and engineering experiments. It comes with functions of numerous measurement devices including an oscilloscope, a waveform generator, a frequency counter, a programmable voltage, current source and as a data logger. In this workshop, we will show you what PSLab is about, how it is used and you can try it as well!/system/events/logos/000/000/035/large/canvas.png?1545752518cweitat
